Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat.
Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat.
When I say eat, I obviously mean eat everything and anything you possibly can out of the pantry because someone always needs a snack within 10 minutes of finishing their balanced meal. Sleep? Not sure that totally exists. Rave- fill that coffee cup. one. more. time. Repeat.
Okay, maybe it’s not that terrible and there’s a solid chance I’m over exaggerating here- with the exception of coffee because I never joke about coffee. But here we are, on Day 4, and life is definitely different. I’ve taken the chance and potentially over reacting during this Covid-19 Pandemic, but I heard it best by a reporter on CNN:
“You won’t know if you’re over-reacting but you will know, with consequences, if you’re under-reacting” – some reporter
Hmm. Makes logic sense. And I would absolutely prefer to think we all blew this out of proportion than be dealing with a rather unfortunate situation. Truth is, I have loved ones who are extremely vulnerable and I would do anything and everything to keep them safe and healthy. I’m taking my part extremely seriously and staying in my little safe haven of a home until further notice. I’m blessed to work for a company that is leading the way in the dance industry and putting our own safety first, because… #familyfirst. Thank you, team. Your efforts are truly appreciated!
I’ve seen all these different schedules being thrown around and we are lucky to have a bunch of online resources being opened to us. And trust me- we are doing our absolute best to somewhat stick to a schedule, but holy moly, it’s like conducting a band of orangutans. Literally.
I’ve got an 11 year old who is absolutely the best little helper EVER and I don’t even know what I did to deserve her, but this kid has the busiest schedule known to mankind and this downtime is 100% throwing her through a loop. Play dates are respectfully and understandably being dissuaded and there’s no way in hell that she is about to become Tik Tok famous, so aside from some online dance videos and various crafts, I need to keep that brain moving. As well as the other 4 kiddos…. but I could stick a mountain of Lego in front of them and they’re entertained for days.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling the pressure to keep them innovative, active and stimulated. I definitely appreciate sending them to school, knowing that they would be in the best educational hands. I have the utmost respect for teachers and I also understand that the teachers are having a difficult time being away from their students. The school closure announcement came on quickly and again, I’m fortunate to not have a 9-5 job and I truly feel for all the parents who are scrambling to figure out their next move, while feeling the pressure to basically ‘homeschool’ their kiddos for the next few weeks. It’s something we’re all navigating together, believe me!
We’re only on Day 4 and I’m really just waiting for the bomb to drop. I mean, typically we experience at least 3 fist fights a day and someone is whining every hour soooooooo maybe the bomb has already dropped. Things are freakin wild over here and I’m already somewhat giving up on these super-healthy-organic-perfectly-balanced meals. My kids are throwing back some serious KD today. And then we’re totally making shamrock sugar cookies to celebrate good ol’ St. Paddy. Yesssss, Day 4!
I think I’m choosing to roll with the day’s energy. I’ve seen the schedules that are being throw around and I am trying to stick to a routine for sure. But man. Pandemics happen like what? Once every million years? I’m keeping this house happy, light and cheerful as much as I can so these kids know that Mama can keep them safe when the world is a little bit scary. I foresee some amazingly productive days but I also foresee some days where we kick back, eat popcorn and watch movies all day. And really, I can plan alllllll I want but when it comes to 5 kids, anything goes.
Sending extra love out to everyone that has opened their resources for us parents to use as guidelines through these closures. Thank you for the online opportunities and thank you for inspiring us all to stay inspired. My anxiety definitely strikes at least once a day BUT all of this is reminding me to slow down and set an example. We need to look for the good in every situation and in order to be the good? We need to stay healthy and the only way to attain that is to respect the new guidelines our fearless government is setting.
This morning has been a good one. I know we are going to have strenuous days ahead but we’re focusing on the positivity today. One minute at a time, parents and caregivers. Stay strong out there. ❤
